Ocean Safari 2008 Solomon Islands & Fiji Expedition
Depart: November 22nd (11:30pm)-Saturday Return: December 2nd (1:20pm)-Tuesday At the end of this year, 18 people will experience an exotic world blooming with life underwater and aboriginal cultures on land. The Solomon Islands is an archipelago located in the southwest Pacific, 1,500 miles west of Fiji and 1,200 miles Northeast of Australia. The walls, reefs, pinnacles and coral gardens of Solomon Islands support an amazing variety and myriad of sea creatures. The varieties of fish are indescribable. Within a few yards of each other, individually or in schools, anemone fish, angel fish, butterfly fish, humphead parrot fish and other reef dwellers coexist. Schools of barracuda, Big-eye Trevally and other pelagic fish cruise in big numbers not far away in the blue waters. Of the many unique aspects of the Melanesian islands the indigenous cultures is the most in that they have preserved to this day. Through the course of Ocean Safari's expedition you will not only discover a whole new underwater world, but also experience an intimacy with the native Melanesian peoples of the Solomon Islands which will leave you lasting memories of another world for a lifetime. Day 1: Depart from LAX 11:30pm Day 2: Cross international date line Day 3: arrive Fiji early morning, check in at Tonoa Hotel, Village and water fall tour Day 4: Depart 8:30am to Solomon, board M/V Spirit of Solomons Live-aboard. 8 days and 7 nights of diving, eco tour Day 5-10: Diving and Eco Tour Day 11: check out of the boat in the morning. Depart Solomon at 1:10pm. Fly back to LAX through Fiji, arrive 1:20 same day.
